About The Conference
Irregular Warfare — Impact of the New Warfighting Paradigm
DoD Directive 3000.07, released in December 2008, places the mission of irregular warfare on an equal footing with conventional warfare in future military planning. Irregular Warfare objectives are to provide a continuum of strategies, tools, and capabilities for dealing with tomorrow's complex and increasingly asymmetrical challenges to US military and geo-political interests, including new approaches for dealing with counter-terrorism, counter-insurgency, and the stabilization and reconstruction/rehabilitation of adversary states and entities. Lessons learned from counter-insurgency (COIN), counter-terror, and stability operations in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere, are driving the formulation of new IW policy, which will in turn impact future military strategy, doctrine, operations, procurement/capital investment, and support. How can your organization play a role?
This outstanding conference brings together the key experts and critical organizations who will be shaping the development of irregular warfare.
- What are the COIN Lessons Learned from Iraq and Afghanistan?
- What new capabilities are needed and how can current capabilities be reused for new applications?
- How will IW impact personnel and training requirements? Multinational and inter-agency information sharing?
- How are the Service's roles adapting to the new demands of IW? Special Operations?
- What new capabilities are envisioned for ground, naval, air, and space forces and assets?
These and many other critical questions will be exhaustively examined during this timely two-day event.
